Warning

The State Mosquito Management Program is warning Connecticut residents about the risk of infection by eastern equine encephalitis (EEE) and West Nile virus (WNV) this season. As of late August 2024, the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station has detected EEE-infected mosquitoes in Canterbury, Ledyard, North Stonington, Sterling and Voluntown. Information on EEE and WNV, mosquito bite prevention, mosquito test results, and human infection updates can be found on the Connecticut Mosquito Management Program website at https://portal.ct.gov/mosquito.

Salt Rock State Park

Sprague/Baltic, CT

Incorporated in the Connecticut state park system in 2001, Salt Rock State Park is spread over 149 wooded acres in two separate parcels on what was once country farmland.  Unique to the Connecticut park system, Salt Rock is the only state campground that offers sites with full hook-ups for RVs, as well as group campsites that fit up to 25 campers, perfect for a family gathering or group overnight.

The campground sits along over one mile of the pristine, heavily wooded Shetucket River waterfront — an ideal scenic backdrop and spot to put in your kayak or cast a line.
