Located amid serene, wooded, sandy knolls, 96-acre Wharton Brook State Park offers the perfect backdrop for solitude, swimming, hiking, fishing, winter ice skating, picnicking, and more. One of the state’s 11 designated Trout Parks, frequently stocked from Open Day to Memorial Day, the park is a hot spot for anglers of all abilities. The hiking trail provides a perimeter loop around the northern section of park with walking adjacent to the Pond.

Established as a park in 1918, Wharton Brook was the forerunner of the rest areas developed by the State Department of Transportation. From 1918 to 1920, this park was known as a traveler's wayside where motorists could stop to have their cars serviced and enjoy a quiet picnic lunch.
