CT State Parks Cadet Lifeguard Program

The Cadet Lifeguard Program is for 15- and 16-year-olds. The goal of this program is to provide Cadets with certifications and exposure to the job in anticipation that they will be working as a lifeguard in the upcoming year. The Cadet program is offered at four different locations - Black Rock, Hammonasset Beach, Rocky Neck and Silver Sands State Parks. The first two weeks will provide cadets with an introduction with the subsequent weeks will focus on implementing the skills learned, learning the day-to-day responsibilities of a CT State Park Lifeguard including physical training and skill drills. Cadets will receive first aid and CPR certifications. Registration is required at the link above. Spaces are limited, and registration will close on June 5, 2026.

Cadets must also attend a one-day training during the week of July 6th at the location where they are signed up:
July 6 - Silver Sands State Park, Milford
July 7 - Rocky Neck State Park, East Lyme
July 8 - Hammonasset Beach State Park, Madison
July 9 - Black Rock State Park, Watertown
July 10 - Hammonasset Beach State Park, Madison (make-up day)
The 5-week long program is held Mondays and Tuesdays from 10am-6pm
