Tri-Mountain State Park

Durham/Wallingford, CT

Largely undeveloped and inaccessible by road, 157-acre Tri-Mountain State Park is enjoyed mostly by hikers traveling along the blue-blazed Mattabesett Trail. The park includes portions of Tri-Mountain and Fowler Mountain, both part of the Metacomet Ridge that stretches up central Connecticut from Long Island Sound all the way through Massachusetts to the Vermont border, and features rugged topography, scenic lookouts, diverse microclimates, and biodiversity.

Overview

  • No restrooms
  • There is no road access to the park. Access via the Mattabesett Trail.
  • Roadside parking is available south of the park at the trail entrance on Howd Road, and north of the park at the Route 68 trail crossing.  There are two spaces in each location.
