Ledyard, CT

Nestled along 2,000 feet of frontage of the eastern shore of the Thames River, this 55-acre slice of riverfront is a beautiful gem. Cast a line or launch your kayak for a paddle, or check out the scenery from above for some water views of the river and Stoddard Cove.

Know Before You Go

This small park has two sections, the main 48-acre segment being the more popular. The entranceway leads to a parking area that has a ramp for car-top boat launching on the five-acre tidal estuary. Access the water under the railroad bridge. Be cautious. It can get dicey—and potentially restricted—during high tide.

  • Buses seating more than 30 passengers are not allowed at this park

Boating

Car-Top Boat Launch (Gravel) Launching boats can be difficult at high tide due to the train tracks.

Hiking

Body

While most activity is down by the water, hiking to the park’s high point of 183 feet above sea level is a worthwhile pursuit. The trail leads to the top, which was once a Native American lookout during times of conflict. Look for the stone-walled Stoddard family cemetery in the woods 500 feet north (upstream) from the parking area.
