Mono Pond State Park

Columbia, CT

Named for the sprawling yet deceptively shallow pond it surrounds, the park offers opportunities to hunt, hike, bike, boat, birdwatch, fish, and more. This little slice of tranquility east of Hartford has grown substantially in recent years. In 2020, the State of Connecticut, the Trust for Public Land, and the surrounding towns partnered to acquire an additional 403 acres of adjacent land, giving visitors over 600 acres to explore. Not only did the expansion triple the size of the park, it connected the park’s trail network to the Air Line State Park Trail, one of the state’s long-distance multi-use trails.
