Lamentation Mountain State Park

Berlin, CT

The park is part of the traprock spine that dominates the central Connecticut landscape and traverses through Massachusetts on to Vermont. With steep topography and a portion of the blue-blazed Mattabesett Trail segment of the 235-mile New England National Scenic Trail, the 47-acre park has scenic overlooks, cliffs, and climbs for days - and one of the New England Trail's primitive campsites for those traveling on the CT NET's section 13.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO

Lamentation Mountain is a walk-in park, so there is no public vehicle access onto the mountain.  However, visitors can park along Spruce Book Road in Berlin near the Mattabesett Trail marker.  The trailhead is approximately half a mile east of the Berlin Turnpike (Route 5).  There is only limited roadside parking available.

Many hikers find the park is easiest to access via Giuffrida Park, where parking is more plentiful. The parking lot address is 800 Westfield Road, Meriden, CT 06450.
