Boating
Hopeville Pond’s pristine waters make it a hot spot for paddlers and cruisers of all varieties. The pond is a freshwater reservoir created when the Pachaug River was dammed, with curves and bends that echo its original river state. For paddlers looking to expand beyond the reaches of the pond, head south towards the larger Pachaug Pond stopping to portage around the Pachaug Pond Dam.
To reach the trailered boat launch:
Upon entering the park, head south toward the campground. After passing the park office on your left, take a right and look for the boat launch on your right-hand side before the road curves left.

When 137-acre Hopeville Pond is at low water, you can see the stone weirs they constructed to catch eels, shad, and other fish. The pond’s many coves and inlets are rich with plant and fish life, including a wide array of trophy-sized catches.
