Sky Search

Location

Time: 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Scour the night skies with our guest astronomers!  The event will be co-facilitated by several local amateur astronomers led by Alan Sheiness, who hosts public sessions monthly in nearby Lyme in association with Lyme Land Trust. All the astronomers bring a deep passion for sharing the night sky through their telescopes.

The Moon will be prominent that evening, so after a brief visual tour of the night sky, we will zoom in on the Moon. We will then observe various "deep sky objects" (DSOs), targets that lie well beyond our solar system. If conditions permit, we will also observe Saturn rising in the eastern sky.

Be prepared!

  • Dress for temperatures 10-20 degrees colder than forecast as it gets cold quickly standing still at night.
  • White lights (flashlights; iPhones) are discouraged as they disrupt night vision.
  • Arrive a few minutes early - no late arrivals please - as headlights may also disturb vision.

Free and open to all ages.
