Join us for a presentation and walk by our special guest, Dr. Beth Lawrence, about the variety of benefits that wetland habitats provide humanity. We will discuss the diversity of wetlands, their unique features, management, and challenges. The hour-long presentation and question period will be followed by an hour-long walk to highlight some wetland features at Goodwin - hydrophytic vegetation, hydric soils, and wetland hydrology. We will discuss wetland natural history and management.
Dr. Beth Lawrence is an Associate Professor at the University of Connecticut in the Department of Natural Resources and the Environment and the Center for Environmental Science and Engineering. She is an ecologist that teaches several wetland courses at UConn and conducts research on wetland restoration.
